Trek Bikes
Trek bikes are put out by the Trek Bicycle Corporation, a company that was founded in 1975. For the first five years, the company operated out of a barn and made bike frames. In 1980, they built a factory and began to manufacture complete bicycle frames. In 1983 the company began producing mountain bikes.
After their entry into the mountain bike field, trek bikes became pioneers in that area. They introduced their first aluminum frame in 1985. In the early 1990’s trek came out with their first carbon fiber frame, which was the lightest bike frame on the market at the time, and also the first full suspension mountain bike.
Perhaps the most notable achievement of trek bikes is the 1999 Tour De France victory of Lance Armstrong on a trek bicycle. This marked the first time in history an American rider used an American bike to win the Tour. Today Trek sells bicycles for racing, mountain, triathlon, and recreational purposes.
